About

It follows on from www.admirable-facades.brussels which you can visit here.

Belgium, this small country created from scratch in 1831 to no longer serve as a battlefield for the European powers, quickly found itself at the end of the century as the second economic power in the world, and therefore rich.

In 1893, Victor Horta, a young 32-year-old architect, built the Hôtel Tassel.

A revolutionary creation that breaks all existing codes and is considered the very first Art Nouveau achievement.

This innovative movement quickly spread to all major European cities as well as the United States and even Buenos Aires and Cuba.

Only a few years after its birth, Art Nouveau, this very particular style reached its maturity and could only go towards its decline. pushed in the back by a reductive and reactionary nationalism which rejected all its extravagances. World War 1 sounded the death knell for Art Nouveau, which then gave way to Art Deco in its geometric period.

You will find here the most remarkable examples of Belgian Art Nouveau by browsing them all, or by searching HERE according to your desires.

Good visit.

Jean-Jacques & Brigitte Evrard-Lauwereins

After studying graphics at the “75” in Woluwé-Saint-Lambert (Brussels), where they met, once graduated, Jean-Jacques and Brigitte Evrard-Lauwereins created their own design agency in 1976, which later specialized in packaging design. The small agency grew and in 1994 it joined the French group Carré Noir, then in 1998 the international design group BrandImage.

In 2007, after more than 30 years in the service of brands, they created the Pentawards, the first international competition devoted solely to packaging design which, in just a few years, has become the world benchmark.

After 10 years of intense activity around the world, they gave up the Pentawards to devote themselves to their passions, travel, art, design, Japan and architecture.

www.admirable-artnouveau.be and www.admirable-facades.brussels tare heir current commitments.
