In 1905, Joseph Baeckelmans built this set of two houses for his widowed mother.
Similar in the materials used, rustic rubble for the base and smooth white stone for the facades, they are however distinguished by their decorations and distribution of windows and balconies.
Horseshoe arches for the house on the left, broken arches and round arches for the one on the right. The cornices were also treated differently.
The large mosaic decorations (12 panels in total) a little naive, daisies for one and swans on water for the other, reinforce their similarity.
It is a beautiful set, well restored and preserved.
Houses listed in 1984.
