Emile Thielens designed these four terraced houses in 1901 at the request of the president of Antwerp Zoo’s widow, Maria Gossen-Van den Wouwer.

The most remarkable from an Art Nouveau point of view is at No. 34, with its beautiful round semi-arched window, decorated with very geometric ironwork.

The first floor balcony rests on a robust hard stone console. Under the more classical cornice, a mosaic frieze illustrated with birds and scrolls completes the facade.

The lintels of the front door are carved with faces in suns surrounding a geometric design, a sort of monogram.

The front door was replaced in 1949 by new owners.

The two other houses which deserve attention are at numbers 38 and 40, we will especially remember here the elaborate ironwork and the mosaics, including these beautiful male/female flower figures, armored picking roses at No. 38.
