Jacques Deweerdt designed this house for Mr. De Graaf in 1906, the house presents all the Art Nouveau elements in vogue as well as some still classic attributes of the 19th century.
A beautiful base in very drawn and sculpted hardstone, around the basement windows.
A sober but well-designed front door.
A beautiful “bel étage” with a spectacular concave loggia, balcony with cast iron columns and yellow glass canopy. The window is also very elaborate. The ironwork is delicately crafted.
The second floor window is framed by an elegant horseshoe arch. A sgraffito or tile decoration has probably disappeared into the tympanum.
The facade is made of glazed bricks alternated with colored bricks, and ends in a sculpted arc.
Architect Deweerdt let his creativity shine, bringing together here all the distinctive elements of Antwerp Art Nouveau.
The house is in good condition and has been carefully restored.
Listed house since December 2003.
