Designed in 1902 by Emile Thielens, this building was to house stables and a carriage garage.

The facade mixes neoclassical and Art Nouveau elements.

The large horseshoe arch rose window, which surmounts the entrance porch, is a good example.

According to some, it was originally decorated with a stained glass window which disappeared in a bombing during the 40/45 war, however a photo dating from 1902 shows an opening decorated with ironwork.

The building was abandoned for many years, then completely renovated in 2003. The current “revisited” Art Nouveau style stained glass window dates from 2000.

A mosaic above the central arch depicts a horse's head and geometric elements.

Emile Thielens was also at the origin, within a group of architects, creator of most of the buildings of the Antwerp zoo.
