This is a fine example of a building preserved since its design in 1902.

The Modern Hotel was commissioned by an industrialist, designed by architect Emile François, and was from the start a hotel, then a restaurant until a few years ago.

Bought in 2016 by the municipality of Soignies, it would once again become a place of catering or cultural activity.

Listed in 1980, it has been maintained in good condition and beautifully restored.

Built in red bricks and original Soignies hard stone, the building has beautiful geometric Art Nouveau elements.

The spectacular circular windows on the ground floor and the gable make it truly original. The woodwork has been superbly restored.

The interior also seems to have remained as it was, with its large chandeliers and its wrought iron balcony where a small orchestra once played.
