Group of four houses of the same type, designed by the architect duo August Cols and Alfried Defever, in 1901.
Considered to be in the Art Nouveau style, given the period of construction, they are nevertheless quite classic in their design.
The facades are made of carved natural stones, interspersed with smooth stones.
The woodwork, as well as the ironwork of the balconies are of geometric Art Nouveau inspiration.
They are best known for the painted frescoes representing the winds, which decorate each facade between the first and last floors and under the cornices.
Notus and Zuid (south) at no 38, Zephyr and West (west) at no 40, Eurus and Oost (east) at no 46 and Boreas and Noord (north) at no 48.
The drawing is treated in a naive way, very figurative with its palm trees, its windmills, its snows and pines, its exotic fruits.
The four houses were listed in December 2003.
