Jean Baptiste Dewin

   

Born in Hamburg (Germany) on July 6, 1873 and died in Brussels on July 13, 1948.

Mason and plasterer, Dewin enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels.

Strongly influenced by the Viennese Secession, he incorporated these precepts into most of his constructions.

He was part of the second “wave” of Art Nouveau in Brussels.

The chance of a meeting will lead him to specialize in care homes, hospitals, clinics, dental institutes, maternities, medical schools architecture... for which he watches, in compliance with medical constraints (hygiene, ventilation, lighting) , to create aesthetic and welcoming places for patients.
